On April 14, a Malaysian man linked to the kidnapping of a teenage girl in Negeri Sembilan was shot dead by police in Klang.

The 21-year-old kidnapped the girl on April 10, and her family was later hit with a RM2 million ransom demand from the kidnappers.

She was stuffed in a suitcase

BERNAMA reported that Bukit Aman CID Director, Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain, said the girl who was kidnapped in Seremban was stuffed into a suitcase before being taken away.

He said the 16-year-old was walking alone to a convenience store at Uptown Avenue, Seremban 2 on April 10 when she was abducted and stuffed in a suitcase so no one would notice.

“Earlier, she and her mother had gone to a salon nearby. While the girl was walking to the store, 2 men kidnapped her, shoved her into a vehicle and drove off,” he said.

Police managed to recover RM180k from the ransom

Mohd Suhaily said the girl’s mother called her dad (the victim’s grandfather) after the incident, and he went ahead and filed a police report.

He also shared that not long after, the kidnappers contacted the victim’s mother asking for a RM2 million ransom. On April 11, the family ended up paying RM280,000 and gave them some gold items too.

“Other than arresting 6 local suspects (3 men and 3 women aged between 20 and 31) the police also managed to recover RM180,000 from the ransom,” he said.

Police are on the hunt for one more male suspect

Police also seized several mobile phones and a metal detector, which the suspects were believed to have used to check if the ransom bag had any tracking devices.

So far, investigations suggest one of the women in the group was the mastermind, and police are still hunting down another male suspect involved.

The case is being investigated under Section 3(1) of the Kidnapping Act 1961.
