The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has urged owners of dashcam footage involving the tragic plane crash incident in Elmina, Shah Alam to come forward to assist in investigations.

In a PDRM Facebook post, Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Razarudin Husain was quoted as saying that the recordings may help with the investigations by the authorities regarding the tragic incident.

He asserted,

“We will find (owners of the dashcam footage) to assist with the investigation of the case. If possible, they should come forward and provide the necessary information,”

The IGP further revealed that the N28JV Beechcraft Model 390 aircraft doesn’t have a Flight Data Recorder (FDR), but it does have a Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) which can help with the investigation of the cause of the crash.

In relation to that, the CVR, which records what happens in the cockpit including the final conversations of the flight crew and other sounds, has been found by the Air Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) at the crash site at 10.20pm on 17 August.

Let’s hope that owners of the dashcam footage would heed the call and come forward to assist in the investigation. Furthermore, let’s hope that the cause of the crash can be determined so that the victims’ families can have some form of closure on the tragic incident.
