Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man star Tim Roth has praised its "incredible" writer, Steven Knight, as the film hits cinemas.

The Oscar-nominated actor, 64, stars as British Fascist sympathiser Beckett, with Cillian Murphy reprising his role as Thomas Shelby in the Netflix sequel to the BBC series.

Roth, who had not seen the TV show, said of joining the cast: "I walked into this incredible bunch [and] this world they created, it was absolutely extraordinary.

"[Steven] is just incredible. And he's really funny... When you've got good writers about it makes your job so much easier. It's quite wonderful."

Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man is out in select cinemas from 6 March and on Netflix from 20 March.
