Some people are placing their faith in Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's claims that he will restore good administration and fight corruption now that he is Prime Minister. As the corruption prosecution against former Prime Minister Najib Razak continues in court, the hearing set for Friday, March 31st, 2023, many in the country are questioning the government's commitment to effective anti-corruption measures and the rule of law.

Concerns have been expressed regarding the fairness of the court system and the government's dedication to fighting corruption because Najib's legal team is attempting to reverse his conviction. When it comes to crime, many wonders if the government has what it takes to bring those responsible to justice. The government's dedication to combating corruption has also been scrutinized due to the continuing corruption cases involving Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. The Pakatan Harapan voters are understandably still shocked and outraged by the appointment of a person facing corruption accusations to the second most powerful position in government.

For the public to have faith again in the government's ability to deal with corruption, Anwar Ibrahim's pledges to do so are essential. People want to see genuine efforts made to combat crime. Trust in the country's institutions and fulfilling government commitments are in jeopardy. The actions of former Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to fight corruption, most notably the 1MDB scandal, for which he was ultimately removed from his position as Deputy Prime Minister, should also be acknowledged.

With the hearing set for March 31st, the government's dedication to fighting corruption is on trial. Most citizens doubt that the government led by Anwar Ibrahim can successfully handle high-profile issues like those involving Najib Razak and Ahmad Zahid without damaging its credibility. If Najib Razak's conviction is reversed, what steps will the government of Anwar Ibrahim take to mitigate the political fallout? What effect will this judgment have on the administration's dedication to openness and the rule of law?

If the government is not committed to eradicating corruption, it must be prepared for the consequences in the approaching state elections. The only way Malaysia can provide its people with a better future is if its leaders combat corruption vigorously. The People want actual action to be taken to resolve this issue. The administration is responsible for keeping its promises and restoring public faith in the nation's institutions.
