A 29-YEAR-OLD homestay employee was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment by the Magistrates’ Court here today after pleading guilty to two charges of criminal trespass and intruding on a woman while she was showering at a holiday rental in Manir in August.
The accused, Ahmad Farhan Rizal Abdullah, admitted to the offences before Magistrate Noor Mazrinie Mahmood, who ordered the sentences to run concurrently from the date of conviction.
For the first charge, Ahmad Farhan was accused of intruding upon the privacy of a 36-year-old businesswoman with intent to insult her modesty at approximately 12.30am on 26 August.
The offence falls under Section 509 of the Penal Code, which carries a punishment of up to five years’ imprisonment, a fine, or both.
On the second charge, he was found guilty of criminal trespass, having unlawfully entered the premises used as a residence during the same incident. This offence is punishable under Section 448 of the Penal Code.
The court imposed six months’ imprisonment for the first offence and three months for the second, to run concurrently.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Nur Anith Nabilah Rusli led the prosecution, while the accused was represented by Nurul Najmi Adila Md Nasir from the National Legal Aid Foundation (YBGK).
The case came to public attention after the woman, a trader from Ampang, Kuala Lumpur, lodged a report alleging she was being watched while showering during her stay at the homestay for a business-related photoshoot.
She claimed to have seen a hand holding a mobile phone through the bathroom window and immediately screamed for her husband. - October 5, 2025
