Kota Kinabalu: Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) will field three candidates in the coming Sabah election to strengthen the party’s presence in the State.
Pejuang President, Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, said the decision was made after assessing the potential of constituencies and local community support for the party’s struggle based on integrity and national dignity.
“We plan to field candidates in the Pantai Manis, Kawang and Tamparuli,” he saidHe said the Pejuang is in the final stages of negotiations with Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition.
“We see the need for Pejuang’s voice in Sabah, especially in championing fair policies and refocusing on the people’s wellbeing,” he told a media conference, Sunday.
Mukhriz said the prospective candidates are Sabahans who are capable, known to grassroots communities and have positive backgrounds.
He said Pejuang’s status as a new party is not a barrier to becoming a voice in the Sabah Assembly.
Mukhriz also said Pejuang is open to cooperation with parties sharing similar struggle values, but rejects any alliance that could compromise the party’s principles.
