Kota Kinabalu: Penampang District Athletics Association (PDAA) proposed to the Penampang District Council to construct a training field adjacent to the football field near the Penampang police station.
This was suggested during a recent courtesy call by the delegates from PDAA to District Officer Francis Chong led by its president Mohamat Hassan and accompanied by coach Gabriel Moinjil, Penampang Sabah Games team manager Cornelius Tahing.
Gabriel said there are abundance of potential athletes for field events such as shot putt, javelin and discus throwers in the district but there is no suitable training facility for them.
Meanwhile, an invitation was also extended to Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick and Chong to officiate a fun run scheduled on October 8.
