
RUTLAND: Penampang is being introduced as a rising birdwatching and eco-tourism destination at the Global Bird Fair 2025.
Led by Penampang Tourism Association (PTA) president Benjamin Golimbi, the district is highlighting its community-based tourism model, supported by the Sabah Tourism Board and its CEO, Julinus Jeffrey Jimit.
PTA is working with the Sabah Birdwatchers Association to promote birding sites such as Sugud Eco Park, Inobong and Buayan Substations, Gunung Alab, and the Moyog River.

Adventure activities like tandem paragliding in Sugud and white-water rafting in Rugading are among Penampang’s expanding offerings for nature and culture-based travellers.
