PENANG Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow has ordered his 10 state executive councillors and two city councils to monitor the progress of all development projects in the state.

This is essential, as the state works to deliver the promises made to the people, including the socio-economic infrastructure, which is essential to inject a higher quality of life to the constituents, said Chow.

"The state also needs to determine the progress of all projects, including those abandoned or delayed," he said after visiting constituents in Balik Pulau.

Accompanying him was Penang DAP liaison chairman Steven Sim Chee Keong, who is also the Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Minister, and two state executive councillors, Lim Siew Khim and Daniel Gooi Zi Sen.

Chow said that the state government would be entering the second half of its term soon, so ensuring that projects are on schedule is important.

“The people are conscious of the projects due to be implemented; they are constantly asking for updates, so it is only fair that the state meets their requests,” he said.

Meanwhile, Sim urged entrepreneurs to tap the national small and medium enterprises (SME) fund, which is now up to RM60 billion, an increase of RM10 billion compared to 2025.

This funding, guaranteed under Bank Negara, is aimed at helping the SMEs to cope in challenging times, such as now, where there are rising operational costs, said Sim. - May 30, 2026.
