Last Saturday (19 October), a mother and her daughter were found dead in their rented home in Penang, believed to have been killed by slash wounds to the back of the neck.
The woman was found in the kitchen in a gruesome state, with her neck almost severed, while her daughter was discovered upstairs lying in a pool of blood.
Two suspects have been remanded for seven days
As previously reported, the 57-year-old husband claimed he came home to find the gate open and later discovered the bodies of his wife and daughter, after which he immediately alerted the police.
The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) confirmed that the husband has been arrested and remanded until 25 October to assist with the investigation. However, authorities have not confirmed whether he is the main suspect.

In a recent update, a 45-year-old local man and a 46-year-old Bangladeshi national have also been remanded for seven days, until 21 October, to aid the ongoing investigation.

The Bukit Mertajam Magistrate’s Court issued a seven-day remand order on Monday (20 October) to allow investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder to continue, according to Sinar Harian.
The two men were arrested separately on Sunday (19 October) after police gathered intelligence and received tips from the public. Initial investigations found that both suspects knew the 51-year-old victim.
Police have also seized the suspects’ mobile phones to aid the investigation, while efforts are ongoing to identify the main perpetrator and uncover the motive behind the tragic killings.
