Penang’s Islamic agencies must strengthen collaboration to achieve the comprehensive APAI 2030 development agenda, focusing on five key thrusts.

BUTTERWORTH: Islamic agencies in Penang have been urged to strengthen strategic collaboration to comprehensively achieve the Penang State Islamic Religious Development Agenda 2030 (APAI 2030).

Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Dr Mohamad Abdul Hamid (pic) said APAI 2030 is a crucial concept that must be understood by all agency personnel as it is the key action plan to uphold Islamic values in the state.

He stated the agenda aligns with Penang Vision 2030 to create a family-focused, green, and smart state. “This crucial agenda is activated together by all state Islamic agencies to ensure there is no big gap between Muslims and other races by 2030,” he said.

Mohamad spoke at the Penang Islamic Religious Agencies Gathering and the launch of the APAI 2030 Strategic Plan Book at Dewan Wisma Al-Ansar. The development agenda is based on five main thrusts: socio-economic, educational, family, youth, and dakwah and tarbiah development.

He explained it has been initiated through 14 strategies and 70 inclusive action plans since March 2024. The Penang State Islamic Intellectual and Civilisation Research Centre (Al-Hady Centre) serves as the think tank and secretariat.

As president of the Penang Islamic Religious Council (MAINPP), Mohamad handed the strategic plan book to 11 state Islamic agency heads. He hopes it will be the main guide for more systematic project implementation, with annual monitoring.

About 400 personnel from 11 state Islamic agencies participated in the event, which was held for the second time.
