Talk about food, and every Malaysian is likely to have an idea of what their favourite meal looks like, whether it be a steaming bowl of tangy and spicy assam laksa, or a hearty plate of nasi kandar drenched with gravy. But if given the chance, would you be willing to have your favourite meal every day for months on end? Well, one Penang man certainly had no qualms doing just that, and he has the pictures to prove it!

Penang man has chicken rice for lunch from the same stall for 3 months

In a post uploaded by social media user Ewe Sin Nee on Facebook last Friday, she shares how her husband had recently sent her an entire catalogue of photographs that he has taken over a period of three months. And each photograph featured only one peculiar subject — chicken rice.

As it turns out, Sin Nee’s husband has been making it a point to eat from only one chicken rice stall every day and dutifully ordered the very same portions of roast chicken with roast pork (siew yoke) for lunch!

“Pay attention and look, this man is really too much!”

“He has been eating chicken rice for three months straight, and even compiled a photo album!” Sin Nee wrote.

While there is no denying the irresistible appeal that a combination of roast chicken, roast pork and chicken rice can have, it’s hard to imagine having it every single day for a month.

Convenient and affordable, making it an easy choice

In speaking with Wau Post, Sin Nee’s husband, Klio, explained that he chose to eat chicken rice as it was simply a convenient and affordable mealtime option.

“I didn’t want to be like my colleagues who would have to wrack their brains trying to figure out what to eat for lunch. I think it’s a waste of time.

So I just went for chicken rice, as it didn’t take too long to prepare and take away.” he said.

As for how his wife felt about his eating habits, he said that she has grown somewhat concerned, even though they don’t eat lunches together.

“But she did mention that even though I haven’t grown weary of eating chicken rice, she is weary of seeing me eat it every day, as she worries that it wouldn’t be good for my health.”

A good piece of advice to keep in mind, as everything good should be enjoyed in moderation! As for how the photo album came about, Klio said that he and his wife would often communicate over text and send photos of what they were having for lunch to each other. After three months of having chicken rice, he decided one day to switch things up and order pan mee instead, which prompted him to compile all of his chicken rice photos into a single album as a keepsake.

“I didn’t expect for it to go viral online.”

Needless to say, his pan mee habit only lasted a single day before he reverted back to enjoying his favourite chicken rice. If you’re keen on trying out Klio’s favourite haunt for yourself, he shares that the chicken rice stall he frequents is located in Bukit Mertajam’s Sentosa coffee shop.
