Recently, my mother was frantically searching for her pension card. Like most women who change handbags for different occasions, she said that she must have misplaced in the handbag number 6 which ironically also is missing.

So, I told her instead of stressing out where to find it (after turning almost half the house upside down) maybe its best that we just go and re-apply for a new one.

She was lamenting that it was too far to go there, I thought about the MyPesara application that can be installed on the smart phone (yes, coincidentally, she has one). Off we go and installed that but to our dismay, this came up (see screenshot below). There was an error.

What luck had befallen us upon installing this. So, I told her it might be better if she were to call the office and ask about the process and procedures of acquiring her pension card. After calling them up, they are only closed on Fridays for the Friday solat and lunch. Other days even lunch time the counter was open throughout. My mother also asked whether she would be penalized for losing the card. The officer in charge replied that all pensioners can obtain their card on the spot and the best part is: It's FREE!

We arrived at the spanking new building located at the KWAP Office at the Ground Floor, Skytech Tower, 2, Jalan Teknokrat 2, Cyberjaya and I thought that the office would be too government-ish but I was surprised that it looked very contemporary and modern. They even have a free flow of coffee machine which I had enjoyed while waiting for her to finish her card application.

I was about to enjoy the freshly made coffee when the card was ready.

The BP word on the right side of the card indicated Federal government. The card in white was for us to give to the guard house so that we will not be charge for parking. The parking there is using Touch n Go card or Credit/ Debit card. All in all, pretty easy process and the coffee machine was nice. Just make sure to select zero sugar.

My only concern was the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 PDPA which users need to be protected to prevent any form of abuse against the storage or processing of personal data of individuals, public and private sectors in Malaysia for commercial transactions. Something for us to ponder on soon.
