A man has been questioned in connection with the murder of teenager Marian Beattie in 1973.
The 18-year-old’s body was found at the bottom of a quarry close to Aughnacloy on Saturday March 31 1973.
She had attended a charity dance nearby on the previous night.
A fresh appeal for information had been made in March.
On Thursday, a police spokesperson said detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Legacy Investigation Branch arrested a man in connection with the murder.
“The suspect, who is aged in his 70s, was arrested this morning and remains in custody at present,” they said.
Later on Thursday afternoon police said the man had been released on bail following questioning to allow for further police inquiries.
