Eligible pensioners who are unable to access their bank accounts can now receive their pension payments through TnG eWallet, as part of a financial inclusion initiative by the Public Service Department (JPA).

According to TNG Digital, the eWallet’s operator, the initiative is aimed at helping retirees who face issues accessing their pension funds through conventional banking channels, including cases where bank accounts are frozen or restricted after falling victim to scams.

Under the program, eligible pensioners who choose TnG eWallet can also apply for a fee-waived TnG eWallet Visa Card. The card is linked to their eWallet balance and can be used for payments at Visa merchants worldwide or cash withdrawals at ATMs.

“We commend JPA for introducing this initiative to ensure eligible pensioners continue receiving their pension payments without disruption when they are unable to access their existing banking channels.

Financial inclusion is about ensuring no eligible pensioner is left without access to the pension payments they depend on. We are honoured to support this initiative by providing eligible pensioners with a secure and accessible alternative payment option through TNG eWallet,” – Alan Ni, TNG Digital CEO

TNG Digital added that more than 3.4 million verified TNG eWallet users are aged 60 and above, showing growing adoption of digital financial services among senior Malaysians. The company also noted that TnG eWallet includes security features such as identity verification (eKYC), biometric authentication, device binding, a Kill Switch feature and a fraud support hotline.
