Pentagon identifies third soldier killed in Iranian attack

  • Sgt. Angel S. Rampersad, 28, from New York, was identified as the third U.S. soldier killed in an Iranian attack on the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan.
  • The Pentagon announced Rampersad's death on Tuesday, following the identification of 1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan, 25, and Pvt. Isabella Gonzales, 19, on Monday.
  • Since the beginning of the war, at least 18 American troops have died, and over 400 have been injured.
  • U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said during his testimony to the Senate Appropriations Committee Tuesday that President Donald Trump should be praised for the war.
  • “President Trump deserves the kind of praise he should get for undertaking this effort,” Hegseth said. “Having the courage to ensure that crazy Islamists can’t have a nuclear weapon.”
