The Perak state government has pledged to maintain all existing stage bus routes and is planning new services to enhance public transport connectivity.
IPOH: The Perak state government has given an assurance that no stage bus routes in the state will be discontinued, following public concern over a recently suspended service.
State Infrastructure, Energy, Water and Public Transport Committee chairman Datuk Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin said the government understood commuter worries, particularly for students reliant on the buses for school.
He confirmed that the Kuala Kangsar-Lenggong-Gerik route, which ceased operations last week, had already been reinstated two days ago after user complaints.
To further ensure service continuity, the state government is also planning to introduce new stage bus routes covering the Kampar and Gopeng areas.
The proposed new routes would involve Tanjung Tualang, Kampung Timah, Tronoh Mines, Gopeng, Kopisan and Kampar, subject to approval from the Land Public Transport Agency.
The assurance comes after media reports highlighted an appeal from Lenggong residents for the reinstatement of the Kuala Kangsar-Lenggong-Gerik service, which had affected daily activities.
