IPOH — The Perak government has urged the relevant authorities to carry out a comprehensive investigation into the explosions and tremors reported in several areas here last Wednesday.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said the incident — as well as a similar occurrence in October last year — had sparked concern among local residents.

“It is time for the relevant departments and agencies to conduct a full study and prepare a detailed report on the cause of these explosions,” he said, as Bernama reported, during a press conference after officiating the closing ceremony of National Training Week (NTW) 2025 at the Ipoh Convention Centre (ICC) today.

Saarani also advised the public against spreading unverified or false information regarding the incident.

“The public should remain calm and not worry, as the situation is under control and no serious incidents have been reported so far,” he added.

Residents around Chemor and Chepor reportedly heard and felt explosions and tremors at approximately 10.30am on 18 June, though the cause remains undetermined.

Perak police chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin said during a press conference the following day that police would hold discussions with relevant departments and agencies to determine the source of the incident.

A similar case occurred on October 21 last year, when strong tremors were felt across several areas of the city — including Tasek, Stadium Perak, Meru, Falim, Manjoi, Chemor, and Sungai Siput — at around 11.06am, followed by a loud bang. — June 21, 2025
