PETALING JAYA: Perak opposition leader Razman Zakaria (PN-Gunung Semanggol) has been slapped with a six-month suspension from the state legislative assembly with immediate effect.

The motion to suspend Razman was tabled by Ong Boon Piow (PH-Bercham) and seconded by Shahrul Zaman Yahya (BN-Rungkup) during the state assembly sitting today, Sinar Harian reported.

The motion was approved by the assembly in a voice vote.

Razman, the Perak PAS chief, was referred to the assembly’s rights and privileges committee in December.

The controversial PAS leader has issued public apologies over various claims made against government leaders, including Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Perak DAP chairman Nga Kor Ming, and Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh.

In February, he claimed that Yeoh was linked to the Yeoh family of the YTL Corporation Bhd conglomerate.

In December, Razman apologised to Nga for accusing the DAP deputy chairman of being involved in a parade where some participants had waved the Chinese national flag.
