Perfect Crown concludes Yi An and Hui-ju’s story on a deeply symbolic note, bringing their emotional journey full circle through the abolition of the monarchy and their transition into ordinary life. As of now, there has been no official confirmation regarding Perfect Crown season 2. The K-drama concludes with most of its central storylines fully resolved, including the abolition of the monarchy, Prime Minister Min Jeong-u’s downfall, and Hui-ju and Yi An finally finding peace outside royal life. Because of this, the K-drama currently appears to have been designed as a self-contained story rather than the beginning of a long-running franchise.
However, if makers plan a renewal, a possible season 2 could focus on the couple’s married life, the challenges of rebuilding identity after losing royal status, or even the political and social consequences of abolishing the monarchy in modern Korea.
What happens in the final moments of Perfect Crown?
The finale of Perfect Crown intentionally mirrors the couple’s earlier baseball stadium date from the beginning of the series. Previously, Yi An could not openly wear a team jersey or kiss Hui-ju publicly because royal decorum demanded restraint.
However, after the monarchy is abolished, the couple attend another baseball game together, this time as ordinary citizens. Both openly wear jerseys, appear on the kiss cam, and finally share a public kiss without worrying about royal rules or public expectations.
The ending brings the story full circle. Hui-ju, who once longed for royal standing because of the discrimination faced by ordinary people, ultimately finds happiness not through status or privilege, but through freedom, equality and a normal life with Yi An. Meanwhile, Yi An’s decision to abolish the monarchy symbolises his rejection of the system that had confined him for most of his life.
