PERIKATAN Nasional (PN) has stressed that no activities or meetings may be conducted using the coalition’s name without the prior consent of its chairman, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, in a move aimed at tightening internal governance and ensuring compliance with party regulations.
PN Secretary-General Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said the directive was intended to ensure that all administrative, operational and organisational matters within the coalition are carried out in accordance with its constitution and the provisions of the Societies Act 1966 (Act 832).
Ahmad Samsuri, who is also PAS vice-president and Terengganu Menteri Besar, was announced as PN chairman on 22 February following the resignation of former chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, which took effect on 1 January after he led the coalition since August 2020.
In a further development, Takiyuddin said PN had received formal feedback from the Registrar of Societies (ROS) regarding recent administrative and organisational changes within the coalition.
"(The ROS letter) confirms receipt of the Minutes of the Extraordinary General Meeting of the PN Supreme Council dated 22 February 2026 and notes the Supreme Council’s approval of the chairman’s resignation and the appointment of the new chairman.
"(The letter also) confirms receipt of the minutes of the Supreme Council Meeting (No. 1/2026) dated 14 March 2026 and the list of leadership and appointments of new Supreme Council members for ROS records," he said.
The PN Supreme Council meeting on 14 March also introduced several leadership changes within the coalition.
These included the appointment of PAS Secretary-General Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan as PN Secretary-General, replacing Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.
Azmin, who previously stepped down from the post in January, was reassigned as PN Deputy Secretary-General.
PN Information Chief Datuk Seri Annuar Musa was also appointed to the post following changes approved at the meeting.
The restructuring also saw changes to the coalition’s deputy chairmanships. PAS Deputy President Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man was appointed as one of the deputy chairmen, replacing PAS President Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang.
Other deputy chairmen include Bersatu President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Gerakan President Datuk Dr Dominic Lau, and Malaysian Indian People’s Party (MIPP) President P. Punithan. - June 19, 2026
