THE Perlis chapter of PAS Youth has called on all parties to play a constructive role in safeguarding the stability of the state government, warning that any attempts to undermine it would benefit only political opponents.
Its chief, Haziq Asyraf Dun, who also serves as the Member of the State Legislative Assembly for Beseri, said: “Any attempt to disrupt the stability of the state government not only harms the people but also advantages those who are constantly seeking opportunities.”
He added that the people of Perlis had provided a clear mandate to Perikatan Nasional to govern the state in the last general election, and that the welfare of the populace and the development of the state should always take precedence over personal or factional interests that could threaten political and administrative stability.
In a statement issued today, Dewan Pemuda PAS Perlis warned: “PAS Youth Perlis will not hesitate to take appropriate action against any party found attempting to create political uncertainty and threaten the stability of the state administration.”
The remarks follow media reports of alleged political unrest in Perlis, after claims emerged that eight assemblymen – five from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia and three from PAS – had submitted statutory declarations to the Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail, expressing a loss of confidence in Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli.
Haziq Asyraf emphasised that PAS Youth Perlis would remain committed to defending the stability of the state government to ensure that public welfare, state development, and societal well-being could proceed uninterrupted.
Mohd Shukri, who had been hospitalised in the capital for chest pains upon returning from an overseas trip, was discharged yesterday. “Alhamdulillah. I was safely discharged this evening. Thank you to all who prayed for my health. May we be granted blessings by Allah,” he posted on Facebook.
Meanwhile, Perlis Perikatan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim earlier said the coalition had only learned of the assemblymen’s withdrawal of support through the media. He insisted the issue should not be blown out of proportion.
“This is not a crisis, merely a difference of opinion. Calling it a crisis could weaken the party. This can be settled within the family – not fighting with each other,” Shahidan, also the deputy chief of Perlis PAS, said at a press conference after the Fawwaz Foundation Education Fund donation ceremony at Kubang Gajah.
He explained that any decision at the state level must be made by the party and only then conveyed to the state Ruler. Independent actions by elected representatives would be scrutinised and reviewed by the party.
Shahidan urged all parties to remain calm and resolve differences respectfully, without open conflict. “We need to remain united because the people judge our strength through unity,” he said. - December 24, 2025
