KANGAR: The Social Welfare Department spent RM1.92 million to provide food at 24 temporary relief centres during the floods in Perlis at the end of last month.

Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli said the floods on November 23 affected 8,058 victims.

He said RM515,000 was used to supply essential items to those affected.

The state government also allocated funds through the Disaster Relief Trust Account managed by the district administration division.

Public donations were also channelled into the same account.

Addressing the state assembly sitting, Mohd Shukri said the National Disaster Management Agency provided funds through the trust account.

A total of RM236,120 from NADMA was spent on flood operations and management in Perlis.

NADMA also allocated RM100,000 to the Civil Defence Force for flood operations.

That allocation was mainly to cover food and drink for emergency responders.
