PETALING JAYA: Another 2,083 contract medical officers will be absorbed into permanent service at the end of December.

Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa said some of the contract doctors had earlier been absorbed at the end of July.

She was speaking at the convocation ceremony for graduates from the various Health Ministry Training Institutes (ILKKM) in Ipoh, Saturday.

Earlier this year, the Government announced that 12,800 contract doctors would be absorbed into permanent positions within the next three years.
