
PENAMPANG: Another new party, Perpaduan, announced an ambitious plan to contest 50 state seats in the coming Sabah election.
Its President Jack J. Giau said the party’s strategy involves constituencies with diverse demographics, including those with significant Kadazandusun Murut (KDM), Bumiputera Islam and Chinese voters.
AdvertisementShould it form the State Government, the party intends to rename the Chief Minister’s position to Premier and Assistant Minister’s position to Deputy Minister, in line with Sarawak.
He said Perpaduan’s campaign would emphasise the importance of maintaining a positive relationship with the Federal Government while advocating for greater Sabah autonomy and leadership by Sabahans.

He said Perpaduan did not participate in the previous election due to many parties at the time.
AdvertisementHowever, the current political climate, characterised by the government’s formation via Statutory Declaration (SD) and perceived lack of popular mandate, has prompted the party’s increased participation.
Perpaduan’s platform centres on combating corruption, eliminating cronyism and nepotism, and upholding the principles of the Malaysia Agreement 1963.
