US defense secretary Pete Hegseth’s 2023 remarks attacking then President Joe Biden’s handling of classified documents have resurfaced online, as the Republican finds himself embroiled in his own security scandal.
The New York Times has reported that he shared Yemen attack plans with his wife and brother on Signal.
Speaking to Fox News, Hegseth said: “If the top man in the job was handling classified documents this flippantly, for that long, why was that the case?”
He also attacked what he claimed to be the “two tiers of justice that exist” if “at the very top, there’s no accountability”.
