- “Godspeed, heroes,” Hegseth wrote on X while reposting a news release about the service member deaths. “Their sacrifice only stiffens our resolve,” he added.
- This incident comes as the US and Iran have intensified their attacks against each other, with the US launching a seventh straight night of strikes following the collapse of an interim ceasefire deal last week.
- In apparent retaliation for U.S. attacks on its infrastructure, Iran reportedly targeted Saudi Arabia, other U.S. Gulf allies, and Jordan on Saturday. Iran's supreme leader issued a warning that Washington would "pay for seeking to incite war.”
