Petrol and diesel prices unchanged for first week of May - Ministry of Finance

THE Ministry of Finance (MOF) has announced that retail prices for petroleum products in Malaysia will remain unchanged for the week of May 1 to 7, 2025, following the latest review under the country’s Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM).

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the ministry confirmed that the pump price for RON97 petrol will stay at RM3.18 per litre, while the widely used RON95 petrol will continue to be capped at RM2.05 per litre.

Diesel prices will also remain stable, with rates in Peninsular Malaysia fixed at RM2.88 per litre and RM2.15 per litre in Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan.

“The Government will continue to monitor global oil price trends and take appropriate measures to safeguard the welfare and well-being of the people,” the ministry stated.

The MOF said the ministry applies the APM formula to determine weekly adjustments in fuel prices based on fluctuations in global oil markets, with the government intervening when necessary to stabilise domestic prices and minimise the impact on consumers. - April 30, 2025
