Kota Kinabalu: Petronas has agreed to implement a mentoring system whereby any large foreign company awarded an oil and gas contract in Sabah will take a Sabah company as a foster company.
State Finance Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said this is to enable Sabah companies that do not have the capacity to take shelter under any giant company with the capacity and get big oil and gas contracts.
“Petronas has agreed and we hope this will be implemented,” he said, after launching the Sabah Local Content Council for the Oil and Gas Services and Equipment (OGSE) Industry at Hilton, Friday.
Statistics show the performance of Sabah OGSE companies had grown significantly to 475 since 2022, but 78 per cent remain inactive.
