THE rationalisation of PETRONAS’s asset portfolio and the company’s strategy in navigating global market volatility, including recent asset disposals in Canada and Brazil, were among the key matters raised in the Dewan Rakyat today.
According to the Order Paper published on the Parliament’s official website, the question was submitted by Datuk Muhammad Bakhtiar Wan Chik (PH–Balik Pulau) to the Prime Minister during Minister’s Question Time.
Also, during the same session, Datuk Rosol Wahid (PN–Hulu Terengganu) queried the Prime Minister on which existing laws the government considers outdated, and the legislative timeline for their repeal or amendment in line with reform principles.
Separately, Roy Angau anak Gingkoi (GPS–Lubok Antu) asked whether the National Security Council has plans to develop secure road networks along the Sarawak–Kalimantan border.
Datuk Muslimin Yahaya (PN–Sungai Besar) directed a question to the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives concerning the latest figures on informal, micro, small, and medium-sized entrepreneurs—including women entrepreneurs—and the expected percentage of those adopting the e-Invoicing system.
Datuk Shahelmey Yahya (BN–Putatan) also questioned the Minister of Education on current and future teacher training programmes and rural students’ digital literacy initiatives, in line with the government’s target of equipping over 10,000 schools with smart boards by 2027.
Following Question Time, the Dewan Rakyat resumed debates on the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK13), which has so far seen participation from 148 Members of Parliament since discussions began on Monday.
RMK13, themed ‘Reshaping Development’, was tabled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on 31 July, with the government pledging RM611 billion in investments to drive national development between 2026 and 2030.
The current parliamentary sitting spans 24 days and is scheduled to conclude on 28 August. - August 14, 2025
