
Kota Kinabalu: The Petronas-built Mara Junior Science College (MRSM) in Ranau welcomed its first batch of 200 students on Monday (March 11).
Petronas Sabah and Labuan Regional Office General Manager Siti Ayu Abdul Wahab said the MRSM Ranau campus, developed at a cost of RM132 million, is the result of a collaboration between the State Government and Mara to empower knowledge by enhancing access to quality education among Sabah students.
“We are excited to witness the realisation of our vision as the first group of students embark on their education path at MRSM Ranau.
“It is indeed a historic occasion as this marks a new chapter in our commitment to support the aspirations of the Sabah Government in developing the human capital potential of young Sabahan talents,” she said in a statement, Tuesday.

Read more MRSM Ranau Principal Ismail Badri said the 200 students, who come all over the State, comprise Form 1 and Form 4 students.
These students will occupy the brand new campus which spans over 26,000 square metres and can accommodate up to 450 students.
“It is heartening to see the smiles on the faces of the students and parents,” he said.
Ismail also said MRSM Ranau, equipped with various facilities, includes an administrative building, academic block, a resource centre, student dormitories, a student centre, dining hall, multi-purpose hall, pavilion, surau as well as teachers’ residences.
He said the campus is different from other MRSMs due to its conducive environment, which is located near the foot of Mount Kinabalu, about 80km from here.
“The combination of the environment, experienced teachers and the facilities will produce holistic and high-achieving students,” he added.
At present, MRSM Ranau has a staff strength of 46 - 27 teachers, 16 support staff and three management team members.
