Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim says Petronas’s planning ensures sufficient oil and gas supplies for the nation at least until May.
KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has confirmed that Petroliam Nasional Bhd’s (Petronas) strategic planning is helping the government guarantee sufficient oil and gas supplies for the country at least until May.
“This is very helpful to the people and the country,” he said in a video message.
He stated that the government has established the National Economic Action Council, appointing credible figures to assist in managing energy security.
Several special programmes have been conducted by the Cabinet and dedicated committees to control fuel consumption and ensure energy supply stability.
“We thank Petronas for its planning to help us by providing sufficient oil and gas at least until May and this is very helpful to the people and the country,” he said.
Anwar added that the government had previously announced early measures, which included more controlled Aidilfitri celebrations.
The government will introduce austerity measures and encourage a much more moderate celebration, he said.
