THE Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) on Thursday said it has discussed with United Parcel Service (UPS) the logistics company’s expansion in Clark and its potential role in supporting the Luzon Economic Corridor (LEC).
UPS-SCS (Philippines), Inc. — a PEZA-accredited service provider for air and sea freight forwarding — is opening a new facility in Clark in the second half of the year.
PEZA Director General Tereso Panga met with UPS head of air operations Albert Sapaen Jr., noting how its new hub could strengthen the country’s logistics infrastructure, export capabilities, and connectivity to global supply chains.
It is expected to facilitate the movement of imports, exports and transshipments, particularly high-value and time-sensitive goods such as electronics, semiconductors, healthcare products and e-commerce shipments.
PEZA said the expansion could also improve UPS’ express delivery and supply chain operations, providing better logistics services to Philippine importers and exporters.
The Clark facility follows other UPS investments in the country, including an operating center in Carmona, Cavite in 2025 to expand its logistics capacity in Southern Luzon.
PEZA said the new expansion also supports the government’s decongestion efforts by increasing the use of Clark for air cargo operations, which could ease pressure on the Ninoy Aquino International Airport and reduce freight traffic on major roads.
The project also supports the LEC’s goal of improving connectivity in Clark, Subic, Manila, and Batangas to create a more integrated logistics network across Luzon.
