Kota Kinabalu: The Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (PGRS) General Assembly, scheduled for this weekend, will serve as a key platform for charting its strategy ahead of the impending 17th State Election (PRN17).
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, who is also PGRS President, said the three-day meeting is in accordance with the party’s constitution and comes at a crucial time as the State prepares for polls.
“It is a constitutional requirement but particularly important as we are heading into a state election that could be held any time after the assembly. So, let’s wait and see,” he told a press conference.

On political cooperation, Hajiji confirmed that Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) had held several discussions with Pakatan Harapan (PH) leaders, including Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is also PH Chairman.
“Yes, we’ve had several discussions, including with the Prime Minister. I believe we will come to a final decision. We will announce it when the time is right.
“There will definitely be formal discussions. We want to continue the cooperation between GRS and PH, the current State Government,” he added.
Hajiji emphasised that GRS would contest the majority of seats in the coming election, while considering local aspirations in determining candidate placements and seat allocations.
“Of course (GRS will contest the majority). But we also want to listen to local aspirations. We will make the best decision for Sabah because political stability is crucial.
“It’s not just about winning the election, but also about ensuring post-election political stability. Only then can we plan and develop our State,” he said.
