THE country’s recent participation at the Maison&Objet 2026 trade show in France earned $3.5 million in sales, 75 percent higher than the $2 million in 2025, the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (Citem) said on Friday.
Maison&Objet is the leading international trade fair for the interior design, home decor and lifestyle industries. Held twice a year at the Parc des Expositions Paris Nord Villepinte in Paris, it serves as a global gauge for design trends and a convergence point for over 2,300 brands and 70,000 professionals, including architects, retailers and interior designers.
The Philippines — sponsored by Citem under its banner program DESIGNPhilippines and supported by the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) Malikhaing Pinoy program — presented 14 local enterprises from the home decor, furniture and furnishings, and lighting sectors, plus an art gallery, at the trade show.
These included 51 All Weather, Aerostone, Beatriz Accessories, Bon Ace, Calfurn, CSM, Finali, Mele + Marie, Moodism, Nature’s Legacy, Prizmic & Brill, Schema, Tahanan, WeaveManila and Galerie D’Antoine.
DESIGNPhilippines curated a pavilion that carried the same theme as its two well-received predecessors to highlight the country’s archipelagic flair.
The Artipelago III Pavilion was a showcase of the variety of design-oriented goods produced by Filipino manufacturers from different regions, presented in a layout that provided a holistic experience of how they can be used and styled in homes, projects or spaces.
The products ranged from larger indoor and outdoor furniture pieces, such as chairs and tables, to artworks, lighting and smaller decorative items, including planters, vases, rugs and tableware.
DESIGNPhilippines is a national movement and branding initiative of Citem and Design Center of the Philippines (DCP) that positions the country as a premier, sustainable sourcing destination for creative, high-quality, and innovative home and lifestyle products.
DCP is a government agency promoting design as a strategic tool for economic growth, social innovation and national competitiveness. Citem and DCP are attached agencies of DTI.
At the trade show, DESIGNPhilippines received 844 trade inquiries, DTI said.
Some of the more prominent brands that expressed interest were the Home Collections of global luxury label Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton and Belgian furniture manufacturer and importer Vincent Sheppard.
“The sustained success of DESIGNPhilippines at Maison&Objet 2026, as shown by Artipelago III, is a highly encouraging sign of the country’s thriving presence in the European market,” Citem executive director Leah Pulido Ocampo said.
“It establishes the Philippines’ capabilities to be a premier source of excellent, design-oriented goods that can compete with brands and manufacturers from all over the world. Citem looks forward to helping more Filipino exporters participate in Maison&Objet so they can also learn global industry practices that will propel their brands further in the international market,” Ocampo added.
