Pakatan Harapan (PH) has launched a double-decker campaign bus in Kedah that reminds us of buses used by candidates in American presidential elections.
It looks like Anwar's team must have been inspired by what is done in the US to promote individual candidates in that country. Or they might have hired advisers from that country to help boost election campaigns locally.
Anyway, it would certainly dazzle many kampong folks when the bus crisscrosses the entire state promoting the MADANI concept, the way Trump did in 2020 with MAGA. Or Make America Great Again.
That same tagline could have worked well with PMX if only they could change the text to MAKE ANWAR GREAT AGAIN!
In Bahasa, it could be translated to be "MADANI-ANWAR GEMILANG AKHIRNYA".
Wow, imagine that bus transversing the entire state of Kedah on a daily basis from now until the elections in July or August offering free rides from Bukit Kayu Hitam all the way to Sungai Petani.
Think of the political mileage PH gets without having to spend any more constructing billboards along the PLUS North South Expressway. That would certainly make Sanusi and Perikatan Nasional nervous indeed because they might not have the resources to counter with a similar vehicle now that BERSATU accounts have been seized by MACC.
Hundreds of thousands would be captivated by the slogan enough to change mindsets hopefully making them forget hustings by ustaz in house to house campaigns urging them to swim with the oncoming green wave movement.
"Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the bus, which is equipped with state-of-the-art communications equipment and a large poster featuring Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, will be an outreach platform for PH and its partners to publicise government policies and to rebut any slander.
“With this, our leaders will be able to campaign tirelessly to ensure that the new political bloc can compete with the ruling Perikatan Nasional coalition in Kedah to win votes in the state election.” (The Vibes)
Saifuddin's told the press at the mega Kedah Madani gathering with Anwar at Dataran Stargate in Alor Setar on 28 April. He also said PH government has no choice but to use a different approach to counter the slander posted on social media.
We only hope that PH attains its objectives while we also pray that the green wave movement does not take to copying Trump's supporters which decided to block a similar bus belonging to Biden-Harris campaign bus somewhere in the Deep South during the last US elections.
