THE Export Marketing Bureau (EMB) said Friday that Philippine game development companies had secured $1.45 million in potential sales during a recent outbound business mission to Shanghai.
The delegation took part in ChinaJoy 2026, where they demonstrated their capabilities in full-cycle game development, art and animation outsourcing and original intellectual property.
Trade Secretary Cristina Roque said Philippine studios have a unique combination of technical know-how and artistic talent needed to compete globally.
The delegates took part in business meetings, networking events, and industry visits to establish connections with foreign publishers, distributors, and service providers.
There was also a networking night that involved co-development and distribution deals.
The itinerary included visits to top Chinese art outsourcing firms and game distribution platforms to provide delegates with a firsthand look at China's gaming industry.
The Department of Trade and Industry said the mission reaffirmed the government's support for local studios and helped strengthen their presence in the Chinese and world markets.
The initiative jointly organized by the EMB and the Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Shanghai, is part of government efforts to promote Philippine digital and creative industries.
Participating studios were GameOps Inc., HPL Game Design Corp., Monstronauts Inc., Buko Studios, Strobetano, Neun Farben, and Cadre Creative Labs.
