PH to also contest all 56 DUN seats in coming Johor election

PAKATAN Harapan (PH) Johor announced that it would contest in all 56 State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seats in the upcoming State Election (PRN).

Johor PH chairman Aminolhuda Hassan said the matter was decided after Johor Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi recently said that BN would also contest in all DUN seats.

"The Honourable Menteri Besar of Johor has stated that (BN) will contest in 56 seats, so Johor PH will also contest in 56 seats. They (BN) have given the go-ahead and had their final say.

"Although some have said, why would they contest with their own friends? This is because they declared it, so we (PH) welcome it," he said.

He said this on behalf of the Johor PH delegation at the 2026 PH Convention at the Johor Persada International Convention Centre today.

Aminolhuda, who is also the Johor Amanah Chairman, said PH was confident of defeating BN for the second time.

"If we (PH) can win in 2018, it is not impossible that we can defeat them (BN) in the next election," said the Sri Gading MP.

On Saturday, Onn Hafiz was reported to have said that the decision to contest in all 56 state assembly seats was made after taking into account the views of the people of Johor as well as the voices of the grassroots leadership of Umno and Johor BN on the party's direction ahead of the election.

In the 2022 PRN, BN won 40 state assembly seats, PH (12), Perikatan Nasional (three) and MUDA (one). – May 17, 2026
