PETALING JAYA: Pakatan Harapan (PH) has decided to make room for Barisan Nasional’s (BN) candidate for the Tioman state election.

FMT reported that Amanah secretary-general Datuk Mohd Hatta Ramli said in a statement that it was in line with the PH-BN alliance at the federal and state levels with both coalitions cooperating to form the federal Pahang and Perak governments.

“To ensure the unity government’s candidate wins the election (in Tioman), the PH machinery will work alongside BN in their campaign for this election,” he said.

PH’s Fadzli Ramly had also voluntarily made way for BN’s Johari Hussain in the election, prior to this.

Tioman’s polling has been set for Dec 7 after the previous election was deferred due to the passing of Perikatan Nasional candidate Yunus Ramli in the early morning of Nov 19.

The election will simultaneously take place with Padang Serai’s polling, also deferred because of Pakatan Harapan candidate M. Karupaiya’s passing.
