THE state-run Civil Aviation Training Center (CATC) has won a historic seat on the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) Trainair Plus Steering Committee, boosting the Philippines’ influence in setting global aviation standards.
CATC received 76 votes, earning one of the 21 seats open to nominees from around the world during the recently concluded selection process.
It is the first time the Philippines will hold a seat on the global panel.
“This achievement is a proud milestone for CATC and CAAP. It gives us an opportunity to contribute to international discussions on aviation training, share our experiences, and learn from other countries as we work to strengthen the competencies of the Next Generation of Aviation Professionals,” said CAAP Director General Raul del Rosario.
CATC’s representation on the TPSC provides the Philippines with an opportunity to participate in shaping international aviation training initiatives and to contribute to global efforts in capacity development, del Rosario said.
