Deputy Commissioner (DC) Akash Bansal held a special meeting with local industrialists and residents at the Market Committee office here today, issuing immediate directives to resolve pressing industrial and civic grievances.

During the interaction, industrial representatives highlighted the deteriorating condition of roads in the industrial area, noting that severe damage was hampering the transportation of goods. In response, Bansal directed the business community to submit a written proposal prioritising the worst-affected stretches so relevant departments could initiate immediate repairs.

With the monsoon approaching, the DC also instructed officials to clean all drains beforehand to prevent waterlogging.

Addressing complaints regarding frequent power cuts and non-functional streetlights, Bansal directed Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) officials to ensure an uninterrupted 24-hour electricity supply and to immediately repair damaged power lines.

Security was another major concern raised by the fraternity, who alleged that late-shift factory workers frequently fell victim to robberies. They demanded enhanced police deployment and intensified night patrolling. Taking serious note of the incidents, the DC ordered the Police Department to step up nighttime vigil in both industrial and residential zones to maintain law and order.

Later, the DC met with the general public to hear local grievances. Taking prompt action, he directed government officials to ensure that public works were completed within stipulated timeframes to save residents from repeated visits to government offices.

Warning against any laxity, Bansal asserted that negligence in development works would not be tolerated and that he would personally monitor the progress of all ongoing projects.
