Pharrell Williams directly responded to a Peta activist who disrupted the premiere of his biopic in Toronto on Tuesday, 10 September.

An animal rights protester stormed the stage during a Q&A session after the screening of the film holding up a sign that read: “Pharrell stop supporting killing animals for fashion.”

The singer then spoke to the activist.

A Peta spokesperson said the organisation staged the protest “because there’s nothing ‘happy’ about supporting the slaughter of animals for their skin and fur.”

The Independent has reached out to Williams for comment.
