Philippine Business Bank nets P444.7M in Q3

PHILIPPINE Business Bank (PBB) reported a net income of P444.7 million in the third quarter (Q3) of 2026, with pretax profit up 42.2-percent from the previous quarter to P637.9 million, supported by stronger lending income and the continued expansion of its Makaguro loan portfolio.

In an earnings release on Friday, the Yao Group-backed lender said that on a quarter-on-quarter basis, net interest income from July to September 2026 rose 17.4 percent to P1.89 billion, while other income climbed 47.3 percent to P425.2 million and core income increased 46.6 percent to P1.05 billion.

The disclosure did not provide a comparative figure for third-quarter net income in 2025 or nine-month earnings results for 2026. PBB had reported net income of P1.52 billion and core income of P2.56 billion for the first nine months of 2025.

Meanwhile, it said total loans and receivables as of end-September 2026 expanded P2.5 billion year on year to P123.6 billion, while total resources stood at P161.4 billion and other income (such as service charges, fees and commissions excluding trading gains or losses) grew 41.1 percent to P963.7 million from P683.2 million last year.

Shareholders’ equity rose to P21.7 billion as of end-September. Capital adequacy ratio was at 13.6 percent and minimum liquidity ratio stood at 23.05 percent, both above the minimum regulatory requirements of 10 percent and 20 percent, respectively.

PBB President and CEO Rolando Avante said the bank’s income growth in the third quarter reflected its continued focus on its core lending business and the expansion of its Makaguro loan portfolio.

“2026 continues to present a challenging operating environment for all businesses including the banking industry,” Avante said, adding that looking ahead, the bank would strategically pursue income growth while maintaining a prudent approach to managing risks.

PBB shares rose P0.03, or 0.43 percent, to close at P6.97 each on Friday.
