THE Philippine Embassy in Hanoi has advised Filipinos traveling to or residing in Vietnam not to possess or carry e-cigarettes or vape products to avoid paying fines ranging from $114 to $190.
In an advisory on Tuesday evening, the embassy said the Vietnamese government, through Decree 371 issued on Dec. 31, 2025, banned the use of e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products.
“The said products are defined as electronic devices, e-cigarettes, and containers of the same, while the definition of heated tobacco products includes electronic devices and specially processed tobacco,” the embassy said.
Violators of the decree face fines ranging from VND (Vietnam dong) 3 million to VND 5 million ($190).
“Filipinos are advised to take note of these new regulations,” the embassy added.
It earlier urged Filipinos visiting Vietnam to purchase travel insurance before departing from the Philippines to cover medical expenses in case of emergency.
The embassy also reminded Filipinos to take care of their passports and other belongings to avoid “unnecessary changes in travel plans due to the necessity of obtaining travel documents from the embassy and exit visas from Vietnamese immigration authorities before departure from Vietnam may be permitted.”
