PHINMA Corp. has started the construction of TRYP by Wyndham hotel in Bacolod through a partnership between its hospitality arm and JEPP Property Corp.

In a statement on Tuesday, the conglomerate said the hotel would be built inside the Saludad township and also be Phinma Hospitality’s third TRYP-branded property in the country.

Phinma Hospitality Chairman and CEO Jose Mari del Rosario said the company was aiming to develop a hotel that reflects the character and identity of Bacolod.

“The goal is not just to build another hotel in Bacolod, but to build a hotel that feels unmistakably Bacolod. Bacolod is a city with strong identity and forward momentum, and TRYP was designed to reflect both,” he said.

Phinma Properties President and CEO Raphael Felix said the hotel would elevate the Saludad township and strengthen its position as a mixed-use hub.

“Our new TRYP hotel’s development not only significantly elevates Saludad’s profile, but places us in a better position to serve the wider community and champion what makes Saludad distinctly Bacolod,” he said.

The hotel will form part of the Saludad mixed-use development, which will also host residential projects Maayo Terraces and Likha Residences, as well as the first campus of Southwestern University Phinma outside Cebu City.

Phinma Corp. Chairman and CEO Ramon del Rosario Jr. said Bacolod remains an important investment area for the group given its growth prospects and role in driving development in Negros.

Phinma’s share price fell by 74 centavos to close at P14.30 each on Tuesday.
