[PHOTOS] FA Cup final: JDT mesmerise crowd with dazzling performance
KUALA LUMPUR – Nearly 85,000 fans of local football were treated to an exciting FA Cup final last night where they witnessed a dazzling performance by Johor Darul Ta’zim FC (JDT).
The Southern Tigers outplayed Terengganu FC (TFC) with Bergson Da Silva scoring twice (63rd and 78th minute), much to the delight of JDT fans, as his second goal sealed the win for his team.
Arif Aiman Mohd Hanapi scored an exciting opener in the 34th minute for JDT while the Turtles narrowed the gap with captain Thetche Kipre’s goal in the 75th minute.
The excitement was palpable even before the match had started as fans gathered in droves outside the stadium.
Fans – from toddlers to adults – donned scarves and jerseys of their favourite teams and many even had their faces painted with team colours. Some even got here as early as 10am yesterday.
While TFC fans arrived in Kuala Lumpur on their own, the JDT Supporters’ Club chartered 100 buses to ferry some 4,000 supporters from all over Johor for the clash.
