[PHOTOS] M’sian NGOs hand memo to US embassy for Al-Quds Day

KUALA LUMPUR – About a hundred Muslim protesters gathered in front of the Tabung Haji Mosque in Jalan Tun Razak here to observe International Al-Quds Day before marching to the US embassy to show support for the cause of the Palestinians yesterday.

With the backing of some 28 organisations, they handed a memorandum for US ambassador Brian Mcfeeters, reported Harian Metro.

They expressed solidarity in commemorating the “black moment” of Palestine when it was taken by Zionist elements who controlled the city of Jerusalem, also known as Al-Quds in Arabic.

International Al-Quds Day takes place every year on the Friday of the final week of Ramadan. This has been celebrated by most Muslim countries since the early 1980s.

Majlis Perundingan Pertubuhan Islam Malaysia, Aliansi Masjid-Masjid Dunia dalam Pertahanan Al Aqsa, Sekretariat Himpunan Ulama Rantau Asia, Amanah, Citizen International, Sejagat, BDS Malaysia, Pusat Kajian Palestin Hashim Sani, University of Malaya, Yayasan Al-Quds Malaysia and Yayasan Isra’ Malaysia were among the signatories of the memorandum.
