Phu Quoc Airline Opens Singapore Route Sales

JAKARTA - Sun PhuQuoc Airways opened ticket sales on May 20 for scheduled flights between Phu Quoc and Singapore, with the first flight planned for July 25, 2026, according to a Brandinfo item carried by Vietnam’s state-owned Việt Nam News. The service is planned at one flight per day.

The new route would connect Vietnam’s Phu Quoc Island with Singapore in under two hours. The same state-owned publication said the route is already served daily by low-cost carriers, and that Sun PhuQuoc Airways is positioning its entry as the first full-service operation on the route.

The company-supplied item said passengers would receive hot meals, standard checked baggage and wireless in-flight entertainment. It also described a business-class cabin with private spaces, premium seating and priority privileges.

The route is part of Sun PhuQuoc Airways’ wider international expansion. The airline’s official website said it received approval for international flight operations in March and has been expanding direct services from Phu Quoc to Asian markets.

The Asia-Pacific angle is direct. The planned service links Singapore, one of Southeast Asia’s main aviation hubs, with Phu Quoc, an island destination that Vietnam is preparing for larger international traffic ahead of APEC 2027. Vietnam’s state-owned VietnamPlus reported that Phu Quoc International Airport is being expanded to support the 2027 APEC Economic Leaders’ Week.

VietnamPlus, another Vietnam News Agency publication, said Sun Airport Corporation was approved on June 19 last year as the investor for the Phu Quoc International Airport expansion project. The project carries total investment capital of 21,998 billion VND and is planned in two phases from 2025 to 2027 and from 2027 to 2030.

Sun PhuQuoc Airways’ official website also said Sun Group and Changi Airports International signed a strategic partnership on March 21 for Phu Quoc International Airport. Under that agreement, Changi Airports International will cooperate on airport management, operational readiness, systems implementation and post-opening performance optimization.

Mr Eugene Gan, chief executive officer of Changi Airports International, said, “We look forward to contributing our expertise to enable Sun Group to create a world-class airport experience.”
