A pilot who was “flying under the influence” was caught trying to smuggle 70,000 ecstasy pills into Indonesia.
CCTV footage released by Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta shows the co-pilot making his way through the terminal before going through security on Wednesday (29 July).
Customs officials discovered several bags full of drugs, which amounted to around 56lbs (26kg) inside his silver suitcase. He told authorities that he had been promised a reward worth around 50,000 ringgit (£9,092) to smuggle in the drugs.
A small bottle containing urine was also discovered, which was suspected to have been intended for use in falsifying a urine test.
The pilot, who had flown in from Kuala Lumpur, tested positive for meth, MDMA and cocaine, authorities said.
