PITAS: The Agriculture and Food Security Ministry has channelled RM910,000 worth of aid to farmers under the Pitas and Kota Belud Area Farmers Organisations, including two full rubber track tractors and three mini harvesters.
Through Agrobank, a total of RM20,000 in zakat assistance was also distributed to 100 eligible recipients, each receiving RM200.
Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu (pic), who presented the symbolic keys to the machines, said the aid aims to boost the morale of farmers and strengthen Sabah’s role in ensuring national food security.
He noted that Sabah has vast agricultural potential that can continue to thrive with a stable State Government, strong Federal-State cooperation, and the support of farmers and the people.
Mohamad also welcomed the proposal to develop idle paddy fields in Pitas, estimated at RM15 million, and expressed confidence that continued modernisation projects could further elevate Sabah’s agricultural output and self-sufficiency.
